Lynden "Buddy" Berger, age 80, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Herman, MN passed away peacefully at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, NV on January 18, 2022.

Buddy was born on November 7, 1941, the second son of Stanley and Nina Berger of Herman, MN. He graduated from the Herman High School and joined his father and brother, “Bobby” in the Chevrolet garage. Bud had a positive and outgoing personality, making him a natural salesman. He later took over the business when Stan retired and added another location in Morris. The garage expanded offerings in a merger with the Oldsmobile dealership in Morris owned by Bill Dripps. Over the years, he developed a reputation for fair dealing and being able to locate just the right car for his buyers. The business prospered throughout the 60’s and 70’s, and weathered the difficult years for the farming community in the early to mid-1980’s. In 1994, he sold the company to Dan Dripps, Jeff Mahoney and a third investor, which is known today as Heartland Motors. Buddy spent his semi-retirement in Arizona and Nevada buying cars wholesale for Heartland and several other dealerships. He was at his happiest when meeting new people and spending time with his family at Ottertail Lake.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother.
He is survived by his niece, Greta Myers of Moorhead, and nephew, Jason Berger of Edina. He also leaves behind two great nephews and four great nieces.
Memorials may be directed in Bud’s name to the Lakeside Cemetery Association in Herman, MN. Join us in sharing your favorite stories.
