Funeral Service for Mrs. Mabel Johnson Wang will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Alsaker, Sherwin Akerson, Curt Alsaker, Byron Akerson, Brian Johnson and Benno Kristensen. Honorary Pallbearers will be Verna Olson, Gloria Anderson, Doris Raguse and Kermit Alsaker, Adelaide Spence and all her surviving dear friends, cousins and neighbors. Organist will be Angie Johnson with special music provided by Betty Alsaker. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church on Thursday. Mabel Alfhild Johnson was born in Traverse County on November 27, 1915, the daughter of Sam and Kristine Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church in Wheaton and was a 1934 Wheaton High School graduate. On September 24, 1963, she married Rev. Walter Wang, a former Wheaton pastor. They resided in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, until his death. Mabel continued living in Fergus Falls until 1999 when she moved back to Wheaton to reside in the Prairie View Place Apartments. Mabel entered the Traverse Care Center on December 14, 2004 where she resided until her death on October 18, 2011. Mabel enjoyed crocheting, traveling, and helping others. While in Fergus Falls, she spent several years volunteering at the hospital and was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Selmer and Clarence, and sister-in-law, Doris Johnson.
