Marvel Joyce Buchholz was born May 11, 1932 in Big Falls, Wisconsin to Art and Sadie (Krohn) Adams. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Big Falls.

Marvel was motivated to help others and worked hard to better the lives of the people around her.  She was active throughout the community, participation wasn’t enough for her, she was an organizer and leader in everything she did.  She was part of the Hospital Auxiliary, Red Hat Society, Birthday Club, numerous committees and programs at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (including Sunday School, mixed choir, organized the men’s choir, and assisted with the church ladies’ bazaar and quilting).

Marvel enjoyed golf and was an excellent bowler, frequently bringing home miniature bowling pins for high score.  Her baking skills were second to none. Birthday cakes were always special, Christmas treats, April Fools muffins and her homemade dinner rolls were highly anticipated.

Her greatest talent and life long accomplishment was that of a wife, mother and a homemaker. She loved, mentored and supported her husband of sixty-seven years. Bill and she had four “Above Average” children. She attended all her children’s events and major milestones. Marvel was the definition of a responsible and involved parent.

Her home was always neat, organized and clean. She was so prolific with a vacuum cleaner, Bill had to sign a contract with the Hoover Company to provide a new vacuum each year.

Marvel is preceded in death by her parents: Art and Sadie Adams; sister Bernetta (Roy) Tischausen; brother Kermit (Arge) Adams; step-father Clarence Ruppenthal; and a still born child, Mara.

Marvel  is survived by her husband, going on sixty-seven years of marriage, William “Bill” Buchholz; sisters: Sharon Bostwick of Milwaukee, WI; and Peggy (John) Pockat of Shell Lake, WI; four children: Brian (Kathy) Buchholz of Afton, MN; Brook (Yvonne) Buchholz of Fort Ransom, ND; Keri (Charles) Weick of Minot, ND; and Tracey Raguse of Wheaton, MN; six grandchildren: Anna (Tom) Bagiackas of Box Elder, SD; Erika Buchholz of Baton Rouge, LA; Calvin Buchholz of Lisbon, ND; and Taylor Buchholz of Fargo, ND; two great-grandchildren: Kobe Buchholz and Joseph Bagiackas; step-grandchildren: Erica Raguse of Moorhead, MN; and Justin Raguse of Fargo, ND; and step-great-grandchildren: Kayleen, Kristofer and Konnor.
