Marvis Bertram, age 87, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rosholt, South Dakota. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton with Rev. Tim Shekleton officiating. Organist will be Cheryl Shekleton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, rural Wheaton, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Matt Bertram, Michael Deal, Shannon Bertram, Jeremy Anderson, Jamie Bertram, Cory Bertram and Mike Gerhardson. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters: Kristin Southerland, Stacy Waltzing, Shawn Lubben, Melissa Stambook, Bobbi Jo O'Brien, Mary Ostmoe and Melissa Doll. Marvis Darlene Freeman was born January 2, 1928 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Harvey and Marie (Schmall) Freeman. She was united in marriage to Frederick William Bertram on January 14, 1944 in rural Herman, Minnesota. Marvis lived with her parents while Fred served in the United States Army during WWII. Fred returned home and the couple lived on a farm south of Herman, Minnesota until the farmhouse burned down. They relocated to a farm near Chokio, Minnesota for several years before moving to Redpath Township. They later moved to a farm on the Minnesota side of White Rock, South Dakota and then bought a farm five miles northeast of Wheaton. They farmed there until their retirement when they purchased a home in Wheaton. Frederick passed away on August 4, 2002. Marvis moved to Bluffton, Minnesota in 2008 to be closer to family. She moved back to the area in 2011 where she resided at Countryside Inn in Rosholt, and just last year moved to the Northeast Care and Rehabilitation Center in Rosholt. Marvis enjoyed knitting, fishing, going for walks, and cooking for family gatherings. Marvis is survived by four children: Gene (Shirley) Bertram of Willmar, Minnesota; Steve (Carmen) Bertram of Wadena, Minnesota; Linda (Bob) Anderson of Elk River, Minnesota and Cindy (Jeff) Niezgocki of Mahtomedi, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Marvis was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Delores Haas.
