Mary L. Roske, age 93, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, South Dakota. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Herman with Rev. Carl Berner officiating. Organist and special music will be provided by Linda Volker. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, rural Herman. Pallbearers will be Jerry Hess, Kevin Boyle, Vernell Wagner, David Austvold, Rick Armstrong and Lee Armstrong. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, September 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Herman. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning one hour prior to service time at the church. Mary Hess was born January 6, 1922 in Graceville, Minnesota to Thomas and Ella Dale (Schenck) Hess. She was baptized on February 20, 1930. Mary attended school in Graceville, Minnesota through eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Reuben O. Roske on August 30, 1940 in Herman, Minnesota. The couple resided on a farm east of Herman until 1956 when they built their home in Herman. Reuben passed away in 1967. Mary worked for Ray's Food Market, Herman Rexall Drug Store and for Orville and Carol Trisko at the Trisko's Supermarket in Herman until her retirement. Mary was very proud of the home she and Reuben built. She meticulously maintained the lawn, garden and flower beds. She cherished the company she found with her neighbors and church family at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mary is survived by her sister Dorothy Harbeke of Page, North Dakota; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Ella Dale (Schenck) Hess; her husband Reuben; sisters: Elvira Gustafson, Tracy Boyle, Mildred Armstrong and Lucinda Upke; and brothers: Earl and Edward Hess.
