Merlyn Rose

Funeral Service for Merlyn Rose, 84, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Suzanne Benidt officiating. Pallbearers will be Marlyn Larson, Gordon Zibell, Ronald Zibell, Gary Anderson, Larry Mesenbrink and Gary Yost. Organist will be Edelle Magnuson with special music provided by Donna and Darwin Anderson. Interment will be in the spring. Visitation will be held Friday, February 26th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, and one hour prior to services at the church Saturday. Merlyn Casper Rose was born to George and Elsie (Larson) Rose on October 3, 1925. He was baptized on October 9, 1927 and confirmed on October 12, 1941 at Augustana Lutheran Church at White Rock, South Dakota where he was a life long member. He attended grade school in District 40 in Monson Township rural Wheaton, Minnesota and attended high school at West Central School of Agriculture at Morris, Minnesota, graduating in 1943. He grew up on the farm and after graduating from high school returned to farm and farmed his entire life with his brother, John. In his youth he was a 4-H member showing pigs or cattle at the Traverse County Fair. He enjoyed sports attending many high school football and basketball games in Wheaton. He also drove to Morris to watch University of Morris football games. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins and watched many games on television. Merlyn passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Rosholt Care Center where he resided the last five years. Blessed be the memory of Merlyn Rose. Merlyn is survived by one brother, John (Helen) Rose of Wheaton, Nephews: Mick (Deb) Rose and their children Eric, Sara and Kyle of Morris, Minnesota, Larry (Donna) Rose and their children Allison and Aaron of Roseau, Minnesota, and Gary (Rita) Rose and their children Reid, Amy and Brody of Glenwood, Minnesota and eleven great nieces and nephews. Merlyn was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Glendon, and one sister-in-law, June.
