Myron Johnson

Funeral Service for Myron Laverne Johnson, age 85, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Rev. Anthony Ahrendt officiating. Organist will be Theresa Thiel. Pallbearers will be Waldo Johnson Jr., Roger Johnson, Ray Fiedler, Steve Wahl, Jerry Schultz, Ritchie Sellden, Bob Neuman and Jim Neuman. Honorary Pallbearers will be All who called Myron friend & his nieces and nephews . Interment will be at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Visitation will be held Monday, February 13th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday. Myron was born June 18, 1926 in White Rock, South Dakota to Axel and Julia (Anderson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dumont. He attended school in Sisseton, South Dakota until age 15 when he started working for Conroy Construction. He was working for the Sellden family on their farm when he met and later married Bernice Sellden on November 10, 1946. The couple resided in Wheaton until 1964. They then moved to Tintah, Minnesota where Myron worked for Traverse County for three years. In 1967, Myron started working for Burgess Construction out of Alexandria, Minnesota. The couple returned to Wheaton in 1972 where Myron lived until his death on February 10, 2012. Myron thoroughly enjoyed carpentry. He has made many items such as flower stands and cupboards for local churches and businesses in the Wheaton area. He made thirty-two backhoes, many of which can be seen around Wheaton, most commonly at Wheaton school playgrounds. He also refinished, repaired and built lots of furniture for his family and friends. Myron was an usher at St. John Lutheran Church for many years and served on the Tintah Volunteer Fire Department. Myron is survived by his wife Bernice of Wheaton, two children, Mavis (Bob) Aune of Wendell, Minnesota and Brenda (Brad) Tews of Wahpeton, North Dakota; two sisters, Delores (Art) Griffin of Willmar, Minnesota and Carol Loe of Worley, Idaho; four grandchildren, Sonja (Kurt) Johnson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Lea (Layne) Aune-Johnson of Bellingham, Washington; Kelli (Al) Karn of Tower City, North Dakota and Jason (Mary) Tews of Bismarck, North Dakota; and three great-grandchildren, Joe Cooper of Fergus Falls, Minnesota and Nathan and Sophie Tews of Bismarck, North Dakota. Myron was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, seven sisters, Genora Johnson, Rosella Neuman, Ila-Mae Jacobs, Beverly Ann Johnson, JoAnn Benson, Bernice Alvera Johnson and Helen Anderson, two brothers, LeRoy and Waldo Johnson Sr.
