Norma Janke

Norma Janke, age 90, of Wheaton, MN passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Sanford Hospital in Wheaton.

Norma Lucille Edwards was born on May 2, 1932 at Moorhead, MN to Ole A. and Ella Kathryn (Swenson) Edwards.

After graduating from Wolverton High School in 1949, Norma attended Moorhead State Teachers College, graduating in 1951.   She returned to MSU the summers of 1955, 1957 and 1970.  Norma began her teaching career in Williams, MN.  Wanting to be closer to family, in 1957 she took a 1st grade teaching position in Wheaton.  It was in Wheaton where she met Vern Janke.  They were united in marriage on July 12, 1958.  Daughters Kathy and Sherry followed.

Through the years, Norma was active in American Legion Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, and several Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Committees.  She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed reading, puzzles and spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by daughters: Kathy (Greg) Hoppe and Sherry (Dave) Aronson; grandchildren: Christopher (Lacey) Hoppe, Sarah (Doug) Nelson, Kelly (Jesse) Steberg, Neil (Rebecca) Aronson, Jack (Erica) Aronson, Seth Aronson; great grandchildren: Jack Nelson, Mira Aronson, Trevor Steberg, Colton Steberg, Boe Aronson and Hunter Aronson.  Also surviving are sisters: Agnes Cook, Clarice Hughes, Grace Ellis and brother Lloyd Edwards as well as many nieces and nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by husband, Vern; sisters: Marian Carlson, Ethel Weber, Harriet Ness, Leone Edwards and brothers: Leroy Edwards, Orville Edwards, Teddy Edwards and Barney Edwards.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton.
