Pearl Ileen Terhaar, age 88, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Wheaton, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton with Fr. John Paul Knopik and Fr. Stanley Wieser Celebrants. Organist will be Marcy LeClair with special music by Ave Maria Catholic Church Choir and Marcy LeClair.
Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Trevor Wirtjes, Colby Terhaar, ZachTerhaar, Andy Terhaar, Ben Kohls and Sam Kohls.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 13th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service and Time of Sharing at Ave Maria Catholic Church. Visitation will continue Thursday afternoon one hour prior to service time at the church.
Pearl Ileen Terhaar was born September 3, 1930 in Grove Lake, Minnesota to Mary and Henry Hoeper. She was baptized and confirmed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sedan, Minnesota. Pearl grew up on a farm in Grove Lake and the Westport, Minnesota area. Pearl was married on June 15, 1950 to Leo Terhaar in Sedan. After living in Breckenridge, Minnesota for a year and a half, they moved to Wheaton where they raised their family.
Pearl enjoyed many happy years in Wheaton. She enjoyed golfing, bowling and her birthday club of over fifty years. Pearl was an active member of Ave Maria Parish including ladies guild, shrine, and teaching CCD classes.
Pearl enjoyed working at the Wheaton Hospital making many good friends. She always had time to have coffee with her friends and neighbors.
Pearl is survived by her children: Joe (Joyce) Terhaar of Plymouth, MN; Kris (Ron) Wirtjes of Wheaton; Paul (Candy) Terhaar of Omaha, NE; Ken (Lori) Terhaar of Burnsville, MN; Bob Terhaar of Brainerd, MN; and Amy (Doug) Top of Sioux Falls, SD; seventeen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Leo; her parents, and infant son Mark; brothers: Henry, Al, Melvin, Oren, Ervin, and Jack Hoeper; sisters: Anne Hobblit, Bernedian Elwood, Glorianne Rosten and Margie Smykowski; sisters-in-law Eleta, Evelyn and Doris Hoeper; and brothers-in-law: Arden Hobblit, Howard Elwood and Ted Smykowski.
