Peyton Johanson

Peyton Johanson, age 87, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Knute Nelson Home in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant. Organist will be Cindy Sanasack with special music provided by Dennis Johnson and the Ave Maria Catholic Church Choir.

Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton.

Visitation will be held Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Peyton Ward Johanson was born on March 4, 1931 to Clarence and Lucita (Cramer) Johanson in Graceville, Minnesota. Peyton graduated from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. He then went to Korea to serve in the army and returned home to farm after his tour of duty was over. He was married to Henrietta Chalupnik on June 24, 1959.

Peyton is survived by his wife Henrietta; his sister Portia Johnson from Owatonna MN; eight children: Julie (Delbert) Hoffmann of Huron, SD; Janet (Dan Vipond) Koch of Wheaton; Douglas (Karla) Johanson of Bismarck, ND; Nancy (Keith) Budke of Wheaton; Bradley (Glenda) Johanson of Alexandria, MN; Kim (Scott) Hess of Sioux Falls, SD; Greg (Denise) Johanson of Herscher, IL; and Amy (Jeffrey) Friday of Portland, OR; twenty-three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
