Funeral Service for Phillip Jim Hess, 82, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton, Minnesota with Pastor Tim Shekleton officiating. Pallbearers will be Nephews Tom Holmes, Mike Holmes, Bob Holmes, Bryan Gail, Dan Gail, Steve Susemihl and Mark Susemihl. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton, Minnesota. Visitation will be held Saturday, one hour prior to services at the Church. Phillip James Hess was born on April 23, 1926 in Wheaton, Minnesota to Harry Edward Phillip & Gladys Mildred (Sturdivant) Hess. He graduated from Tintah High School in 1944. Jim farmed the Hess Homestead his grandfather originally farmed. Farming was Jims life. Following his retirement, Jim moved to Wheaton, but continued to help area farmers with their harvest. Jim cared for his mother Gladys, enabling her to live at home. Family was very important to Jim. He enjoyed family reunions, spending time with all of his nieces and nephews, and annual trips to his sisters house in LeMars, Iowa to see her family. Jim also enjoyed time spent at his mobile home on Pleasant Lake, and playing cards and gathering with friends for morning coffee. Jim passed away August 3, 2008 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Jim is survived by two sisters: Leora Susemihl of LeMars, Iowa, Barbara Gail of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, brother-in-law: Allan Holmes of Moorhead, Minnesota, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Janice Holmes, brothers-in-laws: Arnold Susemihl and Roman Gail.
