Funeral Service for Phyllis Joyce Strader, 86, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Covenant Church, Wheaton, Minnesota Rev. Tim Shekleton officiating. Pallbearers will be Pat Peyton, Mike Peyton, Tom Peyton, Stanley Erickson, Marvin Piotter, and Joey Gaulrapp. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Peyton, Marion Hills, Marlo & Doris Warholm, Allen Kuvaas, her nieces and nephews, and the Bethlehem Covenant Church Women. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2006 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Ranney Funeral Home in Wheaton, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday. Phyllis Hofstedt was born May 3, 1920 in Traverse County, Minnesota to Henry and Selma (Anderson) Hofstedt. She attended school to the 8th grade in Wheaton (District 39). In her late teens and 20s she worked various jobs in Minnesota. While working at the creamery in Wheaton she met and later married Harry Strader on May 23, 1948 in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Jacobson in the church parsonage. Phyllis farmed with Harry most of her life and was active in many activities at Zion Lutheran and Bethlehem Covenant Church. Her sense of humor and her love of baking, especially pies, welcomed neighbors and friends to her home at all hours, day or night. Everyone knew the coffee was always on and her gift of gab was enjoyed by many. Phyllis was the last gold star mother in Traverse County. Phyllis passed away July 7, 2006 at the Graceville Care Center in Graceville, Minnesota at the age of 86. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Karen (Robert) Granitz of Roseau, Minnesota, son, Bruce (Jackie) Strader of Wheaton, six Grandchildren: Gabriel and Abram Granitz of Roseau, Tyler Strader of Alexandria, Minnesota, Grant, Cullen and Carra Strader of Wheaton, cousin: Marlo (Doris) Warholm of Wheaton, three nieces and two nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harry, sister: Janice Worlund, infant daughter: Kitty Jo and son: Carr Strader.
