Phyllis Wieser, age 97, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton, Minnesota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman, Minnesota with Fr. Jerry Ploof and Fr. Stan Wieser Celebrants. Organist will be Marilyn Backman with special music by Mike and Kathi Larson.
Interment will be at the Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Pallbearers will be Aaron Janisch, Chuck Vigilante, Philip Deal, Tom Wieser, Jim Doll, and Scott “Libby” Libbesmeier. Honorary pallbearers will be Phyllis’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Prayer Service at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church Thursday.
Phyllis was born January 10, 1922 in Wheaton, Minnesota the daughter of Philip and Catherine (Hunder) Deal. The family lived in rural Wheaton all their lives, with the family home still owned and occupied by the Deal family. Phyllis attended school in Wheaton, graduating in 1939. After graduation, Phyllis worked at the Traverse County Courthouse and in the AAA office in Wheaton, Minnesota.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Edmund Wieser on November 19, 1941 at the Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. They farmed in the Wheaton area, where their three children were born. In 1956, they purchased a farm near Herman, Minnesota where they farmed until retirement. Being a farmer’s wife, Phyllis did not have time for other activities, but she loved having her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren come to visit her. She was an active member of the St. Charles Catholic Church ladies guild and enjoyed helping with many church activities.
Phyllis is survived by one son Rodney of Herman, Minnesota; and daughter Jean (Darrel) Janisch of Thief River Falls, Minnesota; five grandchildren: Vernon (Carole) Haack, Jill (Chuck) Vigilante, Aaron (Michelle) Janisch, Angella (David) O’Brien and Andy (Elodie) Janisch; twelve great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Cyril (Lorraine) Wieser; sisters-in-law: Bernice Bohnenstingl, Frances Deal and Genrose Wieser; and many nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edmund; one daughter Dolores; son-in-law Emil Haack; three sisters; one brother; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Phyllis was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Phyllis will be greatly missed. May she Rest-in-Peace.
