Robert Rosdahl

Funeral Service for Robert Owen Rosdahl, age 90, of Wheaton, Minnesota will be held Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Thomas Olson officiating. Honorary urn bearers will be Robert's grandchildren. Special music will be provided by Doug Frisch. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, March 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Ranney-Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Friday starting at noon at the church. Inurnment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Robert Owen Rosdahl, son of Hjalmer Rosdahl and Ora Strowger Rosdahl was born on July 8, 1923 in Wheaton, Minnesota where he grew up and graduated from Wheaton High School. He served in the military at the end of World War II stationed in the Philippine Islands. He was united in marriage to Mabel Marie Greenwaldt on November 23, 1947 in Wadena, MN. Rob and Mabel lived in Wheaton where he worked on construction and was a Rural Mail Carrier for many years. They raised five daughters, Lezlie, Roberta, Rebecca, Deborah and Michelle. In 1973, he was transferred to Elbow Lake, Minnesota and he moved to a farm near Wendell. He retired from the Post Office after 40 years of service and moved to "Lonesome Pine", a farm three miles from Dumont, Minnesota. He spent his "Golden Years" on the farm planting trees, gardening and canning tomatoes. He escaped Minnesota winters with annual trips to Palm Springs. He went on many hunting and fishing trips. Horses were always a big part of his life. He raised them and especially enjoyed attending horse shows to watch his grandchildren compete. He was rarely seen without his "horse hat". One of Rob's favorite past times was playing cards. He was always up for a game of "Kings in the Corner" or "Merry Widow". Rob was always quick to say spending time with his family was the most important thing to him and told everyone how lucky he was to have his five daughters. Rob passed away on March 11, 2014 at Northfield Hospital in Northfield, Minnesota at the age of 90 Rob is survived by his daughters, Lezlie (Norman) Tucker of La Quinta, CA, Roberta (Donald) Wagner of Wheaton, MN, Rebecca (Douglas) Frisch of Dumont, MN, Deborah (Charles) Lueck of Lakeville, MN and Michelle (Daryl) Johnson of Lakeville, MN. 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and special pet Macaroni Pony. Rob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mabel, 2 brothers, Harley and Roy, 3 sisters, Nilla, Jane, Ora Claire and an infant grandson, Christopher Frisch.
