Ronald Schoephoerster

Ronald Schoephoerster, age 83, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Cheryl Berg officiating.

Burial will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Urn bearers will be grandsons: Nathan Dahle, Brent Dahle and Elijah Jones. Military Rites will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post #80.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 18th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service and Masonic Service at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Visitation will continue Saturday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.

Ron was born on January 11, 1935 in Dawson, Minnesota to Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Schoephoerster. He was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church at Canby, Minnesota. Ron farmed with his parents for several years while attending West Central School of Agriculture. After his education he worked in a men's clothing store for three years. In 1957 he started working for Ottertail Power Company. While working for Otter Tail Power, he went into the US Army for two years.

In 1957 he was married to Arline Sillman. To this union three children were born: Cheryl, Cindy and Mark.

While working for Otter Tail Power he worked in Canby, Appleton, Fergus Falls and finally Wheaton where he lived for over forty years.

Ron was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Zuhrah Shrine. He served twenty years on the Wheaton City Council and twelve years on the Wheaton Hospital Board of Directors.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of over sixty years Arlene; three children: Cheryl (Robert) Dahle of Breckenridge, Minnesota; Cindy (Richard) Booke of Wahpeton, North Dakota; and Mark (Rebecca) Schoephoerster of Northfield, Minnesota; sister Ruth Ann (Duane) Sundin of St. Peter, Minnesota; and brother Roger (Marilyn) Schoephoerster of Hoffman, Minnesota.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister Lois Bartlow; grandson Jacob Dahle; and great-granddaughter Kirstin Booke. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Cancer Society.
