Rose Marie (Riess) Beadle, age 93, of Wheaton, died on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at the Traverse Care Center.
Rose was born in Wheaton, MN on November 22, 1926. She attended country school in Monson Township and Wheaton High School. She was employed by the Federal Government in Washington D.C. for two years during World War II, where she recalled watching President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s funeral procession. Rose met her husband Lloyd Beadle in D.C. and married him at the Taylor Evangelical United Brethren Church on August 16, 1946. A farm wife who enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening, Rose raised, dressed and sold chickens. She worked at the Traverse County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) in Wheaton for 28½ years before retiring in 1987. She was also longtime Treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wheaton and managed What Not Discount on Broadway in Wheaton. She and her husband Lloyd spent summer weekends selling second-hand items at the Battle Lake, MN Flea Market. Rose knitted and crocheted items, large and small, and sold well over 1,000 crocheted surnames suitable for framing. They enjoyed eating out, playing cards and visiting friends in Wheaton, Breckenridge and Fergus Falls.
Rose is survived by nephews Allen Riess (Margaret King) and Willie Acord (Reita) and nieces Nancy Riess (Melvin Rappaport) and Betsy Bowles Brown, Niece-in-law Joyce Durner Riess, several grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces, great-grand nephews, and lifelong friends and neighbors.
Preceded in death by husband Lloyd, parents Willard and Rose Hof Riess, brother Merle and sister-in-law Norma (Haggardt), sister Margaret (Milton Bowles), nephew David Riess, grand-nephew Bryan David Riess, and nieces Eileen Riess, Elaine Riess Krueger (Allen), Mary-Margaret Bowles Byerman (Keith), Marilyn Bowles Smith (Curtis), and Melinda Bowles.
Her family thanks Countryside Inn Assisted Living Center of Rosholt, SD and Traverse Care Center.
A private Celebration of Life service for family and close friends will be held on June 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton and will be live-streamed for virtual attendance through the Bainbridge Funeral Home website www.bainbridgefuneralhome.com. The public is welcome at the interment to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton. Current COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly followed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Traverse County Historical Society (Museum).
