Funeral Services for Rose Winter of Wheaton, MN were held Thursday, September 22, 2005 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN, Pastor Paul Warnier officiated. Rose passed away Monday, September 19, at the Rosholt Nursing Home in Rosholt, SD. She was 96 years old. Rose Augusta Winter was born on June 15, 1909 at Hoffman, Minnesota to Paul and Emma (Wilke)Winter. Rose and her family moved to rural Wheaton in the fall of 1909. She attended rural grade school in Traverse County and attended 2 years of high school at Wheaton. Rose graduated from W.C.S.A. in Morris, MN. She attended 1 year of teachers training at Wheaton, and attended summer school at Moorhead and Duluth Teachers Colleges. Rose taught in the rural school system for 13 years in four different Traverse County schools. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked at Minneapolis Honeywell for 31 year, after which she retired to Wheaton in 1974. While employed at Honeywell, Rose belonged to the golfing and bowling leagues and Honeywells Charity organization. After retiring to Wheaton, Rose was a charter member of Mobile Meals, a volunteer worker for senior citizens for many years, a member of the local golfing and bowling leagues, a member of St. John Church Circle, and a member of the Sunshine Committee. Rose is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Emma Winter; five brothers, Alfred, Walter, Lorence, Bill, and Marvin; two sisters, Florence and Mabel. She is survived by 1 sister-in-law, Muriel Winter; 10 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews; 15 great-great nieces and nephews; and 1 great-great-great nephew. She is also survived by her dear friends that meant so much to her. Pallbearers were: Paul Winter, Bill Winter, Don Winter, Adam Winter, Jason Winter, Mike Blasing, Adam Wilson, and Ken Hodgson. Special music was provided by Lisa Winter, Ken and Linda Hodgson. Interment was in Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton.
