Sarah passed away Saturday evening, May 26th at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. She has been living at the Good Samaritan Center in Hoffman since 2005. Sarah was born on July 26, 1911 to Mary Frances Perry and James Cook on the family farm in Stevens County, rural Herman. She attended country school through the 8th grade and graduated from Herman High School in 1929. She then attended Bible College in Minneapolis. On March 26, 1934 she married Llewllyn Harold Bowden. She and Harold lived with Harolds father George on a farm west of Herman. From there they moved to a farm in Traverse County for a short time before moving to their home near Norcross where they made their home until 1991, when they moved into an apartment in Herman. Sarah and Harold spent many winters enjoying the sunshine of Apache Junction, Arizona. In addition to being a house wife, Sarah found a great deal of joy as a nurses assistant, for about 35 years, at the Wheaton Community Hospital. Her particular joy was taking care of babies. Even with her busy schedule, she found time for many organizations including: The Methodist Church, Eastern Star (for 65 years), Norcross Ladies Auxiliary, Norcross Ladies Study Club and perhaps others. She logged hundreds of hours as a Hospice Volunteer. Whether in Arizona or Minnesota Sarah loved her role as caretaker and she was always going around taking blood pressure readings or simply sitting with people with illness. Among her awards were: WCCOs Good Neighbor recognition and being in Hermans Hall of Fame. Sarah is survived by four children: Barbara Campbell of Elk River, Minnesota, Richard and Carol Bowden of Miltona, Minnesota, Mary Ann and Douglas Andrews of Dayton, Nevada, and Bob and Candyce Bowden of Paynesville, Minnesota, one sister: Belva Jipson of Graceville, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, five brothers: Bill, Earl, Francis, Herb, and Perry, and one sister: Ethel Van Zomeron.
