Sharon Johnson

Sharon Johnson, age 73, of Sun Lakes, AZ, formerly of Wheaton MN, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester with her family by her side.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Feb 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shephard Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. Ken Bowman officiating. Organist will be LeAnn Bjornson with special music by Ellie Miller.

Visitation will be held Friday, Feb 16th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Prayer Service at Good Shephard Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.

Sharon Renae Renfrew was born on March 5, 1944 in Halstad, MN the daughter of Ernie and Sylvia Renfrew. She was baptized on May 17, 1944 and confirmed on May 25, 1958 at Halstad Lutheran Church. She graduated as the Valedictorian from Halstad High School in 1962 and received her bachelor's degree in math and music in 1966. She went on to receive her master's degree in counseling in 1975 from Moorhead State University.

She was united in marriage to Neil Lee Johnson on August 4, 1964. She began her teaching career in Frazee, MN and in 1969 moved to Wheaton and taught there until 2000. She moved to AZ in 2006 where she continued to substitute teach and tutor math students. Among Sharon's many passions: she loved to garden, play the piano, attend plays and concerts, visit the National Parks, play Words with Friends, golf, line dance, the Minnesota Twins and most of all her grandchildren. She was active in the Oakwood Ladies Golf League, American Association of University Women, Sun Lakes Democrats, and the Desert Botanical Gardens.

Sharon is survived by daughters: Lori (Rich) Dwyer of Chandler, AZ; Tara (Allen) Kleven of Mountain Lake, MN; and Elizabeth (Jason) Heston of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Peyton Glassic, Ian Glassic, Isabelle Heston, and Cole and Brody Kleven; siblings: Linda (Tom) Barth of Moorhead, MN; John (Brenda) Renfrew of West Fargo, ND; Corrine Johnson of Lake Park, MN; and numerous nieces, nephew and cousins.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents Ernie and Sylvia Renfrew, and her best friend Melanie Peterson.

The family would like to thank all Sharon's friends for their love and support. Everyone is encouraged to wear pink on Saturday in honor of Sharon.
