Memorial Service for Steven Sagissor will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. George Sagissor III officiating. Organist will be Theresa Thiel. Visitation will be held Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton. Military Rites will be provided by the Merton Dale American Legion Post #80.


Steven C. Sagissor was born on May 27, 1953, in Milbank, South Dakota to parents George W. Jr. and Florence (Schell) Sagissor. He grew up in Milbank and Wheaton, Minnesota, graduating from Wheaton High School in 1971. He was baptized as an infant in Milbank and confirmed in the Christian Faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton in 1967.

After high school, Steve enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed on the USS Chicago, a missile carrier in Vietnam. After his military service ended, Steve worked in Grand Forks, North Dakota and Houston, Texas as an underwater welder.

On August 10, 1974, he was united in marriage to Dawn Anderson in Wheaton. To this union, one daughter, Jamie Marie, was born. Later, Steve moved to the Flint, Michigan area, where he was a paramedic and EMT for many years until retiring. In retirement he lived in Pinconning, Michigan where he was a part time bus driver. He also enjoyed camping during his retirement years. Steve was called home to heaven by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, November 20, 2017, in Flint, Michigan at the age of sixty-four years.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Jamie Marie (Edy) Rivera of Orlando, FL; his fiancée, Amy McCarthy of Pinconning, MI; two brothers: Rev. George (Julene) Sagissor of Clear Lake, MN; and James (Monica) Sagissor of Wheaton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents.
