Funeral services for Vincent A. Bernard, 90, of Rosholt, SD will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN, with Fr. Joe Vandeberg officiating. Visitation is Friday from 5-7 pm and one hour prior to the funeral at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton, MN. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Wheaton, with Ranney Funeral Home of Wheaton handling the arrangements. Vincent Bernard was born August 19, 1920 in Tyler, ND to Adolph and Caroline (Neubauer) Bernard. He married Rosella Faust on February 10, 1943 in Hankinson, ND and they had nine children. Rosella passed away in 1974. Vincent was raised on a farm near Hankinson, ND and enjoyed farming most of his life, on the Iron Range and near Norcross, Long Prairie, and Anoka. He married his 2nd wife Helen Georges in 1980. Throughout his life he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and he especially loved dancing to polkas and waltzes. He always enjoyed visiting with family and friends. After he retired he traveled to Mission, TX with Helen during the winter months where he enjoyed dancing and spending time with his many friends. Vincent passed away peacefully December 15 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. Vincent is survived by children Robert (Betty) of Evans GA; RoseMary (Dale) Kangas of Eveleth MN, Bernadette (Roger) Showers of Allegan MI; Lucy (Arnold) Zahnow of Hoyt Lakes MN; MaDonna (Dennis) Carlson of Campbell MN; Angie Granberg of Wheaton MN; Daniel (Lynn) Bernard of Oak Grove MN; William (Laurie) Bernard of St. Francis MN; daughter-in-law Linda Haine of Amenia ND; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters Angeline Wieser of Rosholt SD; Marcella German of Hankinson ND; Marian (Aly) Zach of Wahpeton ND; Margaret Schiltz of Hankinson ND; Teresa Schiltz of Rosholt SD; Julia (Clyde) Klosterman of Mooreton ND; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Vincent was preceded in death by Rosella Bernard, brothers Kenneth Bernard and Dennis Bernard, sisters Doretta Zach and Valaria Brandenburger, wife Helen (Georges) Bernard, and son Edward Bernard.
