Violet Johnson, of Wheaton, MN, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2006, at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton. Violet was 85 years old. Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 28, at 11:00 AM, at the Bethlehem Covenant Church in Wheaton. Pastor Tom Olson from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton officiated. Visitation was held Friday evening at the Ranney Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wheaton. Violets pallbearers were her 9 grandchildren. Violet was born on November 30, 1920 to Anna (Ness) and John Freeman in Traverse County, Minnesota. She was the youngest of seven children. Her family lived on a farm near Elbow Lake MN where she attended school through the eighth grade. She married Lloyd Johnson on December 4th, 1943 in Wheaton. They raised three children on a farm in rural Norcross. On the farm she enjoyed taking care of the chickens and feeding all the stray cats. Violets favorite color was blue and she loved the Christmas holidays the best. Her hobbies were gardening, both flower and vegetable. She would spend many hours working with her word find books. She loved visiting with her family, especially her grandchildren. After Lloyd died in February of 1987, Violet would spend many winters in Arizona with her daughter Joyce. Violet is survived by her three children: Joyce (Clair) Howard of Apache Junction, AZ, LouAnn Johnson and her fiance Burl Ingebretsen of Sabin, MN, LeRoy and Kathy Johnson of Dumont, MN. 9 grandchildren: David, Douglas, Daryl, and Duane Howard, Ryan and Shawn Salo, Amy Klindworth, Amber and Aaron Johnson, 10 great grandchildren: Eric, Megan, Kyle, Nick, Travis, Anthony, Alissa, Abby, Anthony, and Ava, 1 great great granddaughter: Elanda. She is also survived by her sister-in-law: Dorothy Lupkes of Wheaton. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Harvey, Gus, and Clarence Freeman, 3 sisters: Lela Granberg, Nellie Hilde, and Mabel Seifert, and 2 infant sons who died at birth.
