Shawn grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota where his parents owned and operated Stavig Bros. Department Store. After graduating from Sisseton High School in 1994, Shawn attended the University of South Dakota before attending Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating, Shawn returned to Sisseton where he was employed at the Cahill Funeral Chapel for eight years. On September 1, 2004 Shawn made the short move from Sisseton to Wheaton and joined the Ranney Funeral Home staff. Shawn is a licensed funeral director in Minnesota, South Dakota & North Dakota, and a licensed insurance agent. Shawn is a member of the Traverse Masonic Lodge, and Wheaton area Economic Development Association, and sits on the Wheaton Community Hospital Board. Shawn is married to Heather (Hanson) of rural Lake City, South Dakota. Heather teaches special education and speech pathology for Tiospa Zina Tribal School. The couple has two young sons, Drew (21) and Dylan (18). The Bainbridges are members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton.
